It pays to study money: Three of the highest-paid professors on campus have Ph.D's in either Accounting or Finance, but it's a job in the Computer Science Department that pays the most. The Racquet's editorial board examined the salary of every professor on campus using the Wisconsin Redbook, the detailed budget for the UW-System that lists salaries for all staff and faculty. What follows is a list of the top-five earners on faculty at UW-L and brief profiles highlighting their accomplishments. Reviews at ratemyprofessor.com revealed that, for the most part, these professors earn their keep, as noted by the "RMP Overall Score" at the bottom of each profile (scores are out of 5). That the Accountancy and Finance Departments dominate this list should surprise no one. In March 2007, The CPA Journal reported that only 53 new doctorates in accounting were hired for the 2005-2006 academic year across the country. Moreover, UW-L's CPA students typically have 100% job placement rates following graduation and an internship. "Our students are prepared and successful in the CPA exam," said Accounting Department Chairman Barbara Eide, number five on our list. The other professors on this list have accomplishments of their own, as listed in each professor's brief profile below.
