Once Student Senate finishes its New Business Wednesday, Student Association President Fred Ludwig will swear in President-elect Derek Kockler and Vice-President-elect Kyle O'Brien, who may face roadblocks from the start.
Much of what happens tonight depends on a vote by the outgoing Senate about restructuring some aspects of the Board of Directors of the Student Association, the non-elected student officials who help in governing campus.

Summer is right around the corner, and with it will come many changes. Many students will be going home, spending less time studying, and spending more time working. Some things will not change so much however - among them, high gas prices and the realities of climate change- contributing pollutants.

Cartwright Center will be open on a limited basis this summer because of a major million-dollar plumbing project.
The project will cost an estimated $1,030,609 and involves a new dishwasher and plumbing.
Director of University Centers Larry Ringgenberg said the reason for initiating the project is due to the age of the building and high amounts of beverage acidity.

It's time to make this campus healthy for everyone

I feel as though it is time to readdress the idea of making this campus smoke-free. Walking to class with smoke in my face from the person ahead is not my choice. Walking out of class into a cloud of smoke from the people 15 feet away from the entry to the building is not my choice.

Regulating smokers will not improve campus atmosphere

Smoking bans are lucrative and seem like a great idea at first. This is why every state in the union has some sort of smoking ban in place, whether it is statewide or city-specific. Although I have not had a cigarette in roughly three months, I did smoke cigarettes for about two years.

I am not trying to fly or anything, just survive this last week of classes. Every semester I think the same thing, "Why am I doing this?"
I sit for the umpteenth hour in front of my laptop screen, vision blurred, fingers cramped, and legs atrophied, surrounded by a fortress of research books taller than me.

While sitting in a darkened lounge as the sun began to set, a reserved-looking Miss Tess could be seen vocalizing the same life struggles many of us go through. She was accompanied by saxophonist Alec Spiegelman and bassist Paul Dilley. Her voice was deep, rounded with the raspy quality of a classic blues singer, a voice she used to give a soul to the mixture of swing, blues, and big band collaboration.

Even with summer's rising temperatures, scarves are back into fashion.
What started as a "sweat cloth" or sudarium to wipe necks and faces, developed into a diverse men's fashion accessory even within ancient Rome. Whether knotted to a belt or worn around the neck or shoulder, the scarf has since then become synonymous with women's fashion.
