Fashion at college could be something like rolling out of bed and wearing your favorite sweatshirt and sweatpants. But if you want to put a little more effort in your outfit, check out these fashion trends that are up and coming.
Earth tone colors: The earth tones are making a comeback on campus in forms of sweaters, tights and skirts. This color choice could be brown, rust, dark green—anything that has something that has to do with the ground and leaves. Even a cream-colored scarf could be considered earthy this season!
Plaids and polka dots: Plaids are always a staple for fall. Especially on guys around campus. One usually knows when fall is here by how many co-eds are wearing plaid. To mix it up this season, you could turn to polka dots, girls! It's a little more feminine and fun to wear within a skirt or even your rain boots.
Colored pants: Blue jean and black skinnies are out, ladies! The new trend is wearing a colored skinny jean. Colors that are popular seem to be army green and mustard yellow. Pairing either one with a simple ballet flat and an off-the-shoulder shirt would be perfect for your afternoon class.
Chunky sweaters: sweaters that you would find at any thrift store or on a mannequin at Wet Seal. The rage right now is wearing a gauzy skirt with a chunky cardi over a tank for those chillier days coming up.
Geek-chic glasses: Geek is totally in this season! Glasses like the Warby Parker and Ray-Ban are making college students look chic and help them see the board in class. It just adds a little something to your face.
Riding boots: These are being seen everywhere. Wearing a pair of boots with a pair of skinnies and a cardi could be just enough to be dressing up for your night class. They also come in handy when it's raining. Comfy feet are a must-have during those cold rain showers!
Feather anything: Okay, maybe not anything. A feather skirt would be taking this trend a little far. But feathers in jewelry, feathers in your hair (thank you Steven Tyler) and feather headbands are something small that can spice up your look.
Accessorize: A big chunky necklace, or a head scarf could be the difference between looking boring and plain to chic and put together. Amp up the amount of your accessories, this way every outfit will look different and you can maximize your wardrobe!
So maybe this is a little much for those early morning classes. Even if you still roll out of bed and put on your sweats, at least you can look cute for nights out, right?
