Attention all males: it's time to be let in on the secrets of what girls actually want when it comes to fashion. College life is all about impressing the ladies and there is no better way to catch their attention than with a put together ensemble.

Basic needs include ironing and washing your clothes frequently. You might still be getting used to doing your own laundry since mom isn't around anymore, but it can make all the difference when it comes to dressing to impress. The grundge look does look hot when it comes to hair. Messing up your hair and keep the bedhead look looks great on almost any guy. Sport that with a little bit of scruff and girls will go weak in the knees at the sight of you.

Guys always look great when they keep things simple. "I love when I see guys wearing a fitted V-neck shirt with a dark washed pair of jeans," said UW-La Crosse sophomore Lily VanDriessche. A simple T-shirt  and jeans can go a long way. You can dress it up with a vest or jacket for the evening or dress it down with a hooded zip-up for class.

There seems to be a common trend among mens fashion that promotes mixing patterns. Never, and I mean never, should a guy wear a pair of plaid shorts with a striped shirt or anything equivalent to that. It immediately gives girls the impression that you don't care about how you present yourself. And when it comes to women, presentation is extremely important.

Jewelry is one of those things that needs to be approached cautiously. You don't want to be that guy with eight rings on each hand, or the guy with 12 necklaces on because you think it looks artsy. Keep it minimal. A nice clock face watch or a leather band around your wrist is a tasteful way to accessorize an outfit.

Since the weather is getting cooler it's time to bring out your bulkier clothing. Try to steer clear of a hooded sweatshirt everyday. Mix things up and invest in a few knit sweaters. These can be just as comfortable and are usually warmer than your favorite sports team sweatshirt. Wear your sweater with a pair of corduroys to make it really fall appropriate.

Be creative and be yourself. Try out new ways to style your existing clothing. Look at other guys on campus or in magazines for inspiration. Hopefully with these tips you  will impress that girl you've always wanted to.
