ReadyWisconsin is a website to help Wisconsinites prepare for the coming chilly winter.

"The site is designed to help everyone stay safe so they can enjoy a beautiful Wisconsin winter with no worries," Governor Scott Walker says. "Winter storms can be vicious and the best way to combat them is through advance preparation."

The website has many winter safety tips, including information on how to make an emergency kit and how residents can be well-prepared for winter emergency situations.

"The number one thing to do: make sure you have an emergency supply kit in your car—it could save your life," says Todd Pritchard, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Wisconsin Emergency Management. ReadyWisconsin recommends having items like blankets, flashlights, and a shovel in the vehicle at all times.

Matt Kenseth, the NASCAR champion and Cambridge Wisconsin native, has joined the ReadyWisconsin team as a spokesperson for winter preparedness. He is in a series of television and radio public service announcements, also urging Wisconsin drivers to carry an emergency winter survival kit during the winter.

The emergency winter survival kit should include warm clothing and blankets, a flashlight with spare batteries, candles and matches, food including energy bars, jumper cables, road flares and a shovel. In the video, Kenseth also suggests residents look for more winter safety tips on the website.
