Additional finalists named in Provost search

After a recent two stage screening process of applicants from around the country, Chancellor Joe Gow and the UW-La Crosse Provost/Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs search and screen committee have declared three finalists they believe properly suitable to be the new team leader at UW-L. Candidates for the position include Kathleen Enz Finken, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Minnesota State University at Moorhead; Ronald Toll, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Penn; and Denise Battles, dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences, University of Northern Colorado. The next step for these three selected applicants included participating in on-campus interviews held respectively March 4th, 7th, and 11th. which were all open for students to attend. These finalists along with previous candidates Bill Colclough and Lance Grahn will undergo serious consideration for the final position of UW-L's new Provost/ Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The UW-L website describes the position of the Provost as the ranking academic office of the University and person who reports to and acts in absence of the Chancellor. This roll holds senior leadership, policy and decision responsibility for educational policy and academic program development; enrollment management; academic and strategic planning to include diversity efforts; academic personnel decisions; resource planning; library systems; major university initiatives in teaching, research and creative activities, and service; and student affairs. Chancellor Gow and the eleven member search and screen committee team consisting of faculty members, staff, and students have diligently committed themselves to finding the best candidate to promote a healthy campus through strong programs in student services, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, cultural diversity, and international programs.
