Ahhh, it's that time of year again. Leaves are a blowing, snow is a falling and hormones are a raging. Nothing says romance like sitting in front of a warm fire, wrapped in a fleece blanket, hot cocoa in hand, and feeling the warmth radiating next to you from that special someone. But, just as soon as this Christmas card moment is created, you can ruin love for the rest of us the minute you decide to bring it outside. Ah yes, those dreaded public displays of affection!

PDA otherwise known as the public display of affection has been seen in high school halls for as long as formal education has existed itself. But, PDA seems to be one that has not outgrown the   prepubescent days of our past.

Gone are the days where PDAs were a small electronic organizer, and here are the days where it involves ass grabbing and spit swapping in front of the library. We get it, you're in love, that's wonderful, spectacular even, but keep it PG.

The problem is there's often very little affection seen in these oh too common sexual displays around campus. The average student on campus is between the ages of 18 and 23; what some experts might argue as the prime of the sexual peak. However, this doesn't mean that you should be displaying your off-the- chart hormones for the world to see.

You're not only upsetting others, but think of what you might be saying about yourself and your image. The people who are walking past you on campus aren't just anybody, they are your classmates, your professors, and higher administration. Who wants to have their econ. prof. watching them lay a wet one on the guy you met at Brothers the other night?

A lot of individuals who partake in PDA don't even know who they are. Chances are, you could tone it down a bit. If your significant other has a problem with the altered affections, lay it out. It's not that you think less of them, it's just that you want to promote a positive image of yourself on campus.

I don't care whether or not you're in "love." Love isn't about straddling your man in public or shoving your hands down your girlfriend's pants for a pick-me-up between classes. Love should be about the little things, like a handwritten letter hidden in your backpack, or a mixed tape of all your favorite songs.

Keep it classy UW-La Crosse: a quick peck under the clock tower, a hug on the way to class, or even a wink to keep things spicy. Tis the season to keep it in your pants.
