1. Brett Favre can work his magic
Forget about the statistics. Favre may have passed for over 1,200 yards, and has eight touchdowns against only two picks. All Brett Favre has ever cared about is winning. The Packers are 4-0, and look to take command of the NFC North next weekend at home against the Bears. He has had to take the offensive weight squarely on his shoulders, and boy has be delivered.
2. They can score points without a rushing game
The Packers have accumulated only 217 yards on the ground this season (seven by the punter Jon Ryan), which averages to under 55 yards per game. Favre and the entire recieving corp has stepped up, from Driver, Jennings, and Bubba Franks to players like James Jones, Ruvell Martin and Donald Lee. Brandon Jackson and Vernand Morency haven't been 100% healthy, and DeShawn Wynn has only provided a little help. Favre said if they're going to keep winning, they are going to need a rushing game. It will be tough skating by on throwing the ball 75% of the time.
3. The defensive lineman and linebackers have looked great
Aaron Kampman, Corey Williams, and KGB have put pressure on the quarterbacks and have accounted for eight of the nine Packer sacks so far. Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk have played like Pro Bowlers, and Brady Poppinga, Jonny Jolly, and Cullen Jenkins have made great contibutions to a front seven that is becoming a force to be reckoned with.
4. The secondary has been solid as well
Al Harris and Charles Woodson have played shutdown corner, but the great news is that the Packers actually have someone that can play safety. Nick Collins is emerging into a very solid player and Atari Bigby has played great football as well. Bigby came up huge on Sunday, grabbing the game sealing interception in the waning minutes against the Vikings .
5. The special teams has come up big
It started in Week 1 when Tracy White recovered the muffed punt in the end zone against the Eagles, and when Mason Crosby booted through the game-winner to send the Packers to 1-0. Crosby has only missed one field goal, and Jon Ryan has punted extremely well. He stopped one on the five-yard line on Sunday, and then scampered seven yards on a fake punt to give the Packers a spark in the second half.
