What happens when a small Midwestern theatre company's production of "A Christmas Carol" goes horribly awry? In Daniel Sullivan's comic satire of political correctness and inept theatre, both the annual production of "A Christmas Carol" and the company producing it, are headed for disaster. Rehearsal time is inadequate, the company faces bankruptcy, and they may lose their major grant. When a hopeless actor wannabe is mistaken for the grants inspector, things go from bad to worse amid falling scenery and tortured romances. This hilarious farce, centered on the Dickens classic, is sure to liven the holiday season.
UW-L welcomes guest artist Jay Postell Pringle to the cast of Inspecting Carol. A professional actor, Pringle has performed on television and film, Off-Broadway, and regional and touring shows. Through his work with the underground hip-hop crew, The 40Thievz, also known as Select Personnel Productions, Pringle recently launched a new album titled "The Good Thief." Pringle appears through the generosity of the Office of the Provost on the UW-L campus.
I sat down with Jay Pringle recently and got to know him a little better. Not only has he been appearing in many theatre classes, but he's one of those guys who's ready to tell you anything you want to know about. I asked him how he felt about being a guest artist here at UW-L, and he replied that it was a great experience to change the typical rehearsal times from 9-6 everyday to the college version of 6:30 to 9:30. He mentioned that he didn't know what he could offer but realized that there was much that he, a professional, could give to many actors who weren't familiar with the outside world of professionalism. He really appreciates the interaction between students and faculty and loved the natural aspect of coming into a normal established routine and throwing a little monkey wrench in the whole thing.
Postell's character in Inspecting Carol in Walter E. Parsons who's an actor who recently toured with the American Military but has come back to regain his acting style.
Jay will also be hosting a Hip Hop Workshop in Graff Main Hall on Dec 5th it will be for anyone and everyone who has an interest in Hip Hop, it's going to be a great time, and you don't need to have any prior experience in order to enjoy the great experience of Hip Hop.
