Vote "yes" for UW-L Green Fund
Jenn O'Neill
Issue date: 4/9/08 Section: Opinion
Green: The color of grass, the Incredible Hulk, John Deere tractors and hopefully, UW-L's future.
On April 15th, students will have the chance to vote on a referendum that would add $5 per semester to student segregated fees to invest in energy efficiency and sustainable energy projects for our campus.
In the UW System, there is nearly no incentive for schools to be more energy efficient. UW System schools budget for energy costs, but if they conserve energy, the money saved is absorbed back into the System. More efficient schools do not get the money they save from conserving energy. That is why it is so important for students to take the initiative.
At UW-L, students have done just that. The Green Fund is the result of collaboration of dedicated students both in and out of the classroom. On April 15th, vote yes for the Green Fund and a brighter, more sustainable future for UW-L.
