The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Department of Theatre Arts will bring to life the legendary story of young Holocaust icon Anne Frank. The Diary of Anne Frank, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman, will be performed April 25-26 and May 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinee performances are April 27 and May 4 at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be held in the Toland Theatre in UW-L's Center for the Arts on the corner of 16th and Vine Streets.
Kesselman's recent adaptation of the 1955 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett brings to life deeply personal accounts of the Holocaust through the words of a young girl. Audiences will be moved by the vivid depictions of the lives of the Annex residents through inspirational scenes contrasted with the heart-breaking moments that will illustrate this colossal and barbarous tragedy.
The Diary of Anne Frank is directed by UW-La Crosse Theatre Arts faculty member, Walter Elder, and features a talented cast of students portraying authentic historical characters. This performance is sure to be a poignant experience for all audiences.
Tickets for The Diary of Anne Frank are $10 for the general public, $8 for non UW-L students, senior citizens, and children and $3 for UW-L students with a valid student ID. For questions concerning The Diary of Anne Frank, call the Department of Theatre Arts at
