Men's Track competes in three meets

The UW-La Crosse men's track & field team competed in three meets over the weekend. The Eagles saw action at the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College (Mich.), at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and at the Loras College Open in Dubuque, Iowa. No team scores were recorded at any meet.
At the Gina Relays, the Eagles' Dan Thour placed 14th (31:26.40) and Cory Hayden 24th (31:55.25) in the 10,000-meter run while Logan O'Grady was 16th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:25.66).
In Iowa at the Drake Relays, Bobby Riley finished 15th in the shot put (53-3 1/2). UW-L also had two relays earn fifth-place finishes. The 4x200-meter relay of Matt Gordy, Jon Doble, Alex Rooker and David Kolbe were fifth (1:27.78) while the 4x400-meter relay of Cole Lambert, Doble, Dylan Randolph and Kolbe were fifth (3:16.22). The 4x100-meter relay of Rooker, Kolbe, Doble and Gordy failed to advance to the final after running in the preliminaries (42.23).
At the Loras Open, UW-L won six individual events, including Jesse Dengsavang who captured the long (21-2) and triple (47-1 1/2) jumps. Bill Warren won the shot put (49-8 1/2).
On the track, Andrew Boldt won the 800-meter run (1:55.96) while John Heitzman took the 5,000-meter run (15:23.44) and Conor Sparks the 10,000-meter run (33:55.52).
Other top finishers on the track for the Eagles included: Connor Lonning was second (15:28.93) and Ben Herdeman third (15:59.06) in the 5,000-meters while Dan Pizzi was second in the 10,000-meters (34:04.12). Josh Hohensee placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:52.14). Pat Bryan was second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.52). Dan Rendler finished third (1:58.45) and Adam Kleinmaus fourth (1:58.82) in the 800-meter run while Ryan Mendez was fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.50).
In the field events, Clark Lundquist finished second (6-3 1/2) and Dave Stauder third (6-3 1/2) in the high jump while Anthony Hasse was third in the triple jump (45-7 3/4).
UW-L returns to action Friday, May 2 at the WIAC Championships at UW-Eau Claire.
