Track teams sweep WIAC Outdoor Championships

The UW-La Crosse women's and men's track & field teams swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships Saturday afternoon at UW-Eau Claire. The Eagles' women's squad captured its second straight WIAC title with 192.0 points while UW-Eau Claire was second with 158.5. UW-Oshkosh placed third (140.5) followed by UW-River Falls (118.0), UW-Stevens Point (77.0), UW-Stout (51.0), UW-Platteville (50.0), UW-Whitewater (46.0) and UW-Superior (24.0).
UW-L has won nine of the last 11 conference meets and 24 in school history.
The Eagles' men's squad won their 18th straight outdoor championship with 191.5 points while UW-Stevens Point was second with 137.5. UW-Oshkosh placed third (134.5) followed by UW-Whitewater (129.0), UW-Platteville (87.0), UW-Eau Claire (67.5), UW-River Falls (53.0), UW-Stout (42.0) and UW-Superior (16.0).
UW-L, which has won 30 of the last 31 WIAC outdoor titles, earned its 44th outdoor title in school history Saturday.
In Saturday's women's action, the Eagles' AnnMarie Glejf captured the heptathlon title (4,225 points) while Abby Lien took the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.13) championship. UW-L swept the 4x100 (47.92) and 4x400 (3:54.35) meter relays.
In men's action, Alex Rooker swept the 100 (10.80) and 200 (10.85) meter dashes and was selected the Men's Track Athlete of the Meet. Other winners on the track included David Kolbe in the 400-meter dash (48.50) and Cory Hayden taking the 10,000-meter run (31:12.78).
The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay also finished first (3:16.88) while the 4x400-meter relay was second (42.30).
In the field events, Clark Lundquist and Jesse Dengsavang earned conference titles for the Eagles. Lundquist took the high jump (6-6 1/4) while Dengsavang won the triple jump (48-3 1/4).
