Look, I think it's important that American's express their viewpoints, but Mr. Gietman gets it wrong in "Gun Laws: Who are they really protecting (The Racquet, Feb 23, 2011).
His first point, a promise that those who want to commit violent crimes with or without a gun permit, requires examination. Such an assertion can only come from personal experience. Mr. Gietman should be investigated for any desire to cap in the derriere any of his nemeses -- like, for example, a hulking overweight roommate.
Then Mr. Gietman has the audacity to suggest holding gun owners responsible for the use of their "tools." The last time I heard that, I ended up paying child support. Personal responsibility is so 1776. Guns don't kill people, George W. Bush does.
